REPORTS TO:            Director of Instructional Services

 

POSTION SUMMARY:

To improve Kindergarten achievement by performing a variety of roles, including planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluation activities and services associated with the Kindergarten Readiness Partnership and Innovation Grant. 

 

CONSIDERATIONS:

   Must be bilingual English/Spanish.  Temporary grant funded position.

 

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  2. Minimum of two years’ experience in positions involving: project management; organizing activities or programs; working with families; supervising/implementing early childhood education programs; facilitating meetings; working with volunteers; networking with early learning programs and providers, elementary schools, and social service providers; and family support programs and agencies.
  3. Experience with early childhood education programs.
  4. Background and Criminal History Clearance
  5. Demonstrates high level of communication skills and meets District standards for oral and written language proficiency in English, and if applicable, in Spanish or Russian.
  6. Skill in leadership and facilitation of work involving colleagues and administrators, including problem solving, group process, conflict resolution, and evaluation.
  7. Excellent organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks.
  8. Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team.
  9. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  10. Knowledge of early Childhood Education programs, delivery systems and resources in Marion County.
  11. Knowledge of family engagement and early literacy concepts.
  12. Knowledge of State and non-profit grant management.
  13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board or administration may deem appropriate and acceptable

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicates effectively in English in both oral and written form.
  2. Communicates effectively in Spanish or Russian (if assigned) in both oral and written form.
  3. Meets regularly with district and site administrators of collaborating schools and school districts to discuss needs, share information and advice, and assess future direction.
  4. Plan, assign, and coordinate the work of volunteers and staff from partner organizations.
  5. Provide reports to assure compliance to standards and measure results.
  6. Works with supervisor and Early Learning Hub (ELH) to develop goals, objectives, work plans, and timelines for this grant, including regular program evaluation and improvement.
  7. Works with ELH Early Literacy Collective Action Team, K-3 and Pre-K educators in developing and implementing an instructional framework that aligns preschool education with the Common Core State Standards.
  8. Develop effective kindergarten outreach plans and coordinate kindergarten readiness events with community providers/partners in collaboration with ELH Parent Engagement and Education Coordinator and partnering schools.
  9. Works with partner agencies to identify families with pre-kindergarten age children who are not attending a pre-kindergarten program and develop messages and services to assist these future Kindergarten students and their families in getting ready for school.
  10. Recommend, plan and organize appropriate staff trainings, including Pre-K and K-3 professional learning community meetings in collaboration with partnering schools.
  11. Planning and overseeing program budgets in cooperation with supervisor and ELH.
  12. Developing needed forms, brochures, and files and procuring supplies needed to meet the operational needs of the grant.
  13. Serving as a liaison between teachers, administrators, agency staff, community partners, program participants, and the public in the coordination of the grant programs and activities.
  14. Providing or supervising the training for data collection needed for state and grant evaluation; responsible for scheduling, collecting, and reporting required data.
  15. Organizing and preparing reports and other correspondence as required by the ELH and the Oregon Department of Education Early Learning Division
  16. Partnering with ELH and school staff to develop a community engagement plan including creation of materials and information, recruitment of volunteers and contacts with the media.
  17. Representing the Kindergarten Readiness Partnership and Innovation Grant at local, state, and national meetings and conferences as requested.
  18. Performing related duties consistent with the purpose of this program.
  19. Supervises and directs department personnel in collaboration with school and district administrations.
  20. Responds to questions and other information requests from parents, participants, public, staff, and administration.
  21. Develops and submits reports as required by supervisor.
  22. Follows all safety rules and takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and secure working environment for all department employees.
  23. Demonstrates support for District Core Values, District Mission, District Strategic Plan, and Schoolwide Improvement Plan.
  24. Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful learning environment and working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents/guardians, and community members.
  25. Assists parents and community members as needed.
  26. Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural and multilingual values and environments.
  27. Complies with professional development activities as required by the District.
  28. Actively seeks out and participates in professional development activities designed to improve professional competence.
  29. Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving information or sharing information and expertise with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  30. Holds expectations for high performance of self and supervised staff.
  31. Assesses results of performance for improvement on a regular basis.
  32. Demonstrates computer literacy and operates software programs as related to job responsibilities.
  33. Maintains accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law and District policy and regulations.
  34. Maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague, or district patron, and uses or relays academic, social, or personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individuals involved.
  35. Follows all laws, District policies, rules, regulations, memos, announcements, and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  36. Adheres to the same ethical standards as in Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators.
  37. Maintains regular attendance at work and work activities, and is punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  2. The employee is expected to be dressed and groomed in a neat, clean, and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
  3. This position is performed primarily indoors in school buildings and offices, although some outdoor work or supervision may be required.
  4. In cases in which the employee is required to travel between sites, the employee is responsible for his/her own travel and will be reimbursed for approved mileage.
  5. Evening and/or extended work hours or days are often required.
  6. Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to student or employee illness or injury.
  7. May be required to obtain a First Aid and/or CPR Card and serve as a Delegated Caregiver and/or Designated First Aid Provider.
  8. Occasionally performs other duties as required by supervisor.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Current work year of approximately 191 days.

Salary and benefits and working conditions as determined by District Board.
